Android Laser Tag Anyone?

Get off your phone and be sociable! How many times have you heard that before?

Well how does a little game of Android Laser Tag grab you? Well now you can get off the couch and into an action packed game of lasertag with your mates, all powered by your favourite Android, or other smartphone.

What a classic match of Android Vs Apple!

Powered by most popular smartphones including Android, the Smartphone Laser Tag (AppTag) system from HEX3 works by securely strapping your phone into the laser gun where it connects via a high frequency sound (not Wifi or Bluetooth so it’s very adaptable). No microphone or speakers are required either as the HEX3 system uses your mobile phone for those tasks, although a headset might be warranted for addition volume or for a more stealthy approach.

All the action then takes place in and around you and on your mobile phone screen. There are various levels to choose from, and single and multi-player modes; you can even pick up ammo and health packs around the place!

So what are you waiting for? Get off the couch and get sociable now!

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Leaked Prior to I/O 2012

Well there you have it, straight from the, err, Android’s mouth! As snapped by an avid Android fan on Google’s very own hardware site is a Galaxy Nexus soon to be sporting Jelly Bean.

In typical Android fashion, the Galaxy Nexus will be the very first to don the latest clothes from Google (still makes us want a Nexus dammit!).

One thing that is a little odd though, is that Google have not made an entire version jump with Jelly Bean. One would have expected Jelly Bean to be Android 4.0, as in previous iterations of the popular mobile OS.

Although, Eclair was 2.0 and Froyo 2.1 and Gingerbread 2.3. It wasn’t until Honeycomb (tablet only) that Android made the jump to 3.0 then  Ice Cream Sandwich saw the leap to 4.0.

Details are not yet clear of what to expect from Jelly Bean as leaks have been pretty well contained this time round, however we don’t have long to go as we would anticipate Jelly Bean to be released at Google I/O 2012, this time next week!

There have also been suggestions that Google I/O could also see the launch of the Android/ Google Vanilla tablet codenamed Nexus Tablet. Nexus is widely rumoured to be a Vanilla Jelly Bean 7″ Tablet, manufactured by Asus.

And don’t forget, the only way to follow all the very latest news from Google I/O 2012 is with its very own app, available from the Play Store, or scan below.

Facebook Opens App Store, Mobile Included

Facebook have finally taken the wraps off its long awaited App Store, and is ready with open arms for all web and mobile users to dive right in start clicking.

Accessible via your Web Browser at https://www.facebook.com/appcenter, you are greated with a familiar (to anyone who has used the Google Play Store or iTunes) layout of the most popular highest paying Apps at the top, then a long menu of Genres down the left hand side.

You can choose to then install your App on Web or Mobile, or Play the game live in your browser. You can also filter the lists to your Preference.

When browsing through Mobile Apps, choosing a new game for your phone is as easy as clicking on Send To Mobile

At which point in time a message appears on your mobile Facebook app, advising there is a new App available and it is then installed.

We have had the embarrassing occurrence a couple of times though where the App has only been available on iDevices only – woops!

The Facebook App Store has been in the works for some time, and is the first step in Facebook turning their immense mobile market into actual Commercial dollars and cents.

How long before we start seeing paid apps is anyone’s guess, but for now, go forth and discover, there are over 600 apps available right now!

Look for the dedicated app soon in the Play Store.

Angry Birds Space Is Here! Free Download!

Fans of the amazingly successful Angry Birds franchise can now further extend their love of the cranky little feathery creatures, with the latest instalment – Angry Birds Space.

After much success and a great marketing campaign involving the Galaxy Note, us non Note owners can now partake in the gravity free extravaganza for ourselves.

Available for free form the Google Play Store , you can now get cracking on any Android device.

Having a couple of hours on the game last night on our in house Asus Transformer Pad, I have to say it is quite different to previous earth based games. It does take some time to master the gravity free environments. Your birds don’t come back if you send them out of orbit!

The graphics are solid and smooth and looked fantastic on both our Tablet and Galaxy S II handset.

The game really was a pleasure though on the tablet, especially given the dual speakers on the Asus Pad.

If you haven’t yet, get into the Play Store and grab it or hit the QR code up right here!

And don’t miss the full story on Angry Birds Space below.

OnLive Adds Touchscreen Controls For LA Noire On Tablets

Makers of the hugely popular cloud based services group, OnLive, have now brought mobile cloud gaming even more conveniently closer to us, with the news they have made changes to L.A. Noire to now include Tablet Touchscreen controls.

Want to play LA Noire on your tablet with OnLive, but don’t have the Universal Wireless Controller to hand?Rockstar has tweaked the detective game to add touchscreen controls for gaming on the move.

LA Noire’s new touchscreen controls are very similar to those for the recent mobile released of Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition – a virtual joystick for walking about, and virtual buttons to control the in-car accelerator, brake and handbrake. You can swipe to manipulate the camera position, plus there are new virtual buttons for LA Noire’s unique features, like Cole Phelps’ journal and your in-car siren.

All pretty standard stuff for touchscreen controls – but handy for cloud gaming on the move, if you don’t want to pack a Universal Wireless Controller. The touchscreen controls should be live on the OnLive version of LA Noire now, if you want to try them out.
