Samsung have just confirmed their LTE and 42Mbps HSPA+ versions of the popular Superphone, the Galaxy SIII for Canadian and presumably North American markets.
Codenamed the SGH-i747 (LTE sporting) and the SGH-iT999 (42 Mbps HSPA+ flavored), each will be powered by a Dual Core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 CPU with 2GB RAM, rather than the Exynos Quad Core and 1GB RAM variety for World markets.
The SGH-i747 will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions and is the variant most likely to come to Telstra, with some tweaking to make it play nicely on the Telco’s 1800Mhz 4G network. Currently the LTE Galaxy SIII will be available in Canada only on Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel, TELUS and Rogers, while SGH-iT999 will be available from Videotron, Wind and Mobilicity.
We will be keeping a keen eye on this product as it develops for other 4G World markets.

Well that didn’t take long!
XDA member Smando has successfully ported the brand new Touchwiz UX from the Galaxy SIII to work on the Galaxy SII!
So far, the update is firmware flashable (through Recovery as an update.zip), and is only working on Samsung based ROMs so if you have some AOSP or other based ROM you will need to come back to a TW based ROM before flashing.
The advantages are 1) The new widgets – check out the gorgeous weather widget above 2) Speed – users have been reporting that it simply flies and 3) You can choose a 5×5 version as show above to get you some extra screen real estate
This is still a work in progress though, current version is 1.4 and the Changelog reports
-Fix white text on white backgroung
-Fix FC on lockscreen wallpaper
-Changed packageid to fix some incompatibility problem
-(4×5) Better appdrawer layout
-Contain stock Samsung widget(Calendar,Agenda,GS3Accuwether) with new sharedUserID
So far this is only for the Galaxy SII however we are very tempted to flash it onto our ICS G Note just for kicks.

Yes, that’s correct, Dubai retailers have put stock of the World’s most pre-ordered Superphone out on shelves a full week ahead of the global release date.
Website theverge, were sent full retail snapshots of the Samsung Superphone out for sale in full retail kit.
We can see from the above shot that the retail pack contains the usual suspects, USB charger adaptor, battery, USB cable and headphones with ear plugs. Oh and the ever gorgeous Galaxy SIII of course.
The reporter noted the phone was on sale for approximately USD$680, which is quite a bit under the average RRP of $799, however once you add the airfare to Dubai it will soon get pretty expensive!

We have just received the following details:
The LG LS970, or Eclipse as it will be known, is to be powered by a Quad Core Snapdragon S4 CPU clocked at 1.5Ghz and will have the luxury of 2GB of RAM.
It will need every bit of this to power the 4.7″ Super LCD at 320dpi and the 13MP Camera! All of this at just 8.6mm thin.
Have LG bitten off more than they can chew?
Only time will tell! Would you consider LG over HTC or Samsung?
In the meantime take a peek at the Optimus 4X which will be very closely related to the Eclipse.
Still not officially outed yet, here we have the full details on the final and long-awaited, Samsung Galaxy SIII.
Perhaps not up to the specifications a lot of us were hoping for, the Galaxy SIII is none the less a sleek, modern and powerful powerhouse of a phone, certainly designed with the future in mind.
Taking somewhat from the Nexus parts bin, the specifications list reads almost the same.
Of interest though, are that tasty 1.4Ghz Exynos Quad Core CPU, 720×1280 4.8inch Gorilla Glass screen, Multi Touch up to 10 fingers and Android 4.04.
Weighing in at slightly heavier than its forebear Galaxy SII, the SIII tips the scales at 133grams compared with 116grams for the smaller SII. The III is also .01mm thicker than the SII, nothing we will notice in our hands I am sure.
See below for a full spec list!
Another interesting point of difference, is that Samsung and Dropbox have teamed up to offer all Samsung Galaxy SIII owners a 50GB Dropbox account! This is significant as we see mobile manufacturers looking to the Cloud to provide further storage options.
Samsung will ship the Galaxy SIII in white and blue, reminiscent of the choices available for the Galaxy Note phablet device.
Available in all markets soon, the device will ship first in the UK it seems for a lofty 600 pounds!
We certainly can’t wait to get our hands on one, how about you?
